The two grand old masters of the steel-string guitar produce music of
such humor and energy on this 50-minute album, that one might suspect them
being under the influence of some secret, stimulating tinctures brewed from
an old Celtic herb garden. But in spite of the clearly audible "Celtic moments",
it's no doubt the unbuttoned swing of this breathtaking twosome that gives
"Duet" its indelible stamp. Whether it be slightly folkloristic blues, ragtime-style
or rather jazzy numbers, Berryman's and O'Reilly's approach is filled with
an enormous verve.
